A Very Hairy 2008 on the Hair Transplant Network
During 2008, despite three lawsuits attempting to suppress free speech on our hair loss forum, we prevailed and our members continue to share their honest opinions and experiences. The “free speech” we enjoy on our forum is far from free. Our legal costs for 2008 were over $100,000.
As much as we dislike paying attorneys, we’d rather pay them than give into legal intimidation and delete true but unfavorable posts or allow hair restoration physicians with poor results to be presented on our community.
While other forums have caved into such legal intimidation (click here for details), we think the integrity of our community is worth paying a high price to maintain. The other two lawsuits have been dismissed and are thus no longer pending. We will also continue to protect our forum community from covert marketing (see “Free Hair Transplants for Posting“).
On a lighter note, we celebrated the ten year anniversary of the Hair Transplant Network this past September during the annual ISHRS physicians meeting held in Montreal. Leading physicians and patients attended our ten year anniversary party. For highlights and photos from the party, view the “Ten Year Anniversary of the Hair Transplant Network“. This past year we carefully reviewed and added seven physicians to our recommended list, while removing five physicians who we believe no longer met our high standards for recommendation. To learn more about how physicians are selected, visit How we recommend Hair Transplant Physicians.
We also were fortunate to have Bill Seemiller join us full time as our Forum Moderator and Associate Publisher. Bill is a veteran of three hair transplants (see his blog) and had over 4,000 volunteer posts on our forum before he was hired. He has done a fantastic job of writing hundreds of well researched articles for our Hair Loss Q & A Blog and our news sections on our sites. He has also worked hard to get all the physicians we recommend to post hair transplant photo albums every month to the forum “Results Posted by Leading Hair Restoration Clinics“.
Pat Hennessey, the publisher of our community, has continued to visit leading hair transplant clinics worldwide this past year to assure the quality of our recommendations. The highlights from these visits are in the forum “Visits to Leading Hair Transplant Clinics“.
Over 400 patients have shared their stories and photos on our free hair loss blogs, 150 of which were started in 2008. To view their transformations or share your own, visit www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog.
We look forward to helping balding men and women learn about the very best hair loss treatments and physicians, while providing and open and free forum for exchanging their experiences and opinions.
Best wishes for restoring your hair in 2009.
