Transplanted Hair From Another Donor?
I have been told regarding hair transplantation that we have a finite donor supply. Is it possible to transplant hair from another donor?
Unfortunately, as nice as this would be, to have willing participants offer up some of their donor hair for us balding men/women, it simply isn’t possible.
Donor hair is similar to donor organs in that your body will reject foreign hair follicles if they are transplanted onto your own scalp. Therefore, your body will fight against foreign hair follicles and they will not grow. This is why those who receive organs from a foreign host are required to take anti-rejections drugs so the body won’t fight against it.
Therefore, a hair transplant is limited to a patient’s own donor supply which is finite. This is why it is extremely important to plan the use of your donor hair wisely.
Here are some tips on using donor supply wisely…
- Develop and keep realistic expectations for your hair restoration procedure
- Plan for the long term rather than short term
- Make educated decisions instead of emotional ones
- Select a quality hair transplant doctor in order to ensure a successful hair transplant procedure that will satisfy your goals
