Will Bleeding During Hair Transplant Surgery Affect the Result?
I followed the hair transplant postoperative instructions as best I could but I bled quite a bit during surgery. I was wondering: how does that affect the transplant? Can the blood push out the graphs? Can the blood help the grafts? I know it takes the surgeon longer and the grafts are out of the body longer which isn’t good. Anybody have any thoughts?
This question was posed by a hair loss sufferer on our hair loss forum and answered by Dr. Bernardino Arocha of Houston, TX who is one of our recommended hair restoration physicians. His professional answer is below.
The bleeding was only an issue during hair restoration surgery. Your procedure was completed in a reasonable time but could have been completed a bit sooner. In my experience, bleeders also metabolize the local anesthesia faster. It is nice to do one procedure per day, so when the unexpected occurs, we have all our time and attention to focus on our patient that day.
