Can I Cut My Hair Short 3 Weeks Before Follicular Unit Extraction Hair Transplantation?
This question, from a member of our hair loss social community and discussion forums, was answered by Coalition hair transplant surgeon Dr. Glenn Charles:
I want to get my hair cut but I have a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant in exactly 4 weeks. Guidance from my hair restoration clinic is that my hair should be at least 0.5 cm long. I normally have the sides and the back cut with a clippers on a grade 1 and 2. If I leave cutting it to this weekend, will I be risking cutting the donor area down to grade 1, just 3 1/2 weeks before?
You should have no problem with cutting your hair 3 1/2 weeks before the procedure. In fact there is a good chance they will need to trim it down again on the day of your procedure anyway.
