Deciding Between Density and Coverage with Hair Transplant Surgery

I am going for a hair transplant megasession in the near future. I was asked if I want to focus on getting very good hair density in the front, or average density throughout the entire scalp. Tell me, which approach is better?

Given that the entire top of your scalp is experiencing hair loss, you will ultimately have to decide whether you want solid hair density in a targeted area or thinner coverage over your entire scalp.  Right now, you still have a lot of your natural hair, and if Propecia is helping you to maintain it, you may want to target the front half of your scalp with hair transplant surgery first and the balding crown later.  However, if you are more concerned about the vertex, you may want to ask your hair restoration surgeon to spread the transplanted hair over your entire scalp which will thicken up all the areas of thinning hair, but not as significantly as you could have if you targeted a smaller area.

There’s no real right or wrong way between these two approaches as long as your hair loss doctor is making good use of your finite donor supply.  You will have to consider your options and make a decision that’s best for you with the help of your physician.
