“The ISHRS established the designation of Fellow to recognize members who meet certain strict educational criteria. To be considered, members are required to exhibit proficiency in the scientific skills necessary to contribute sound research to the field of hair restoration, complete advanced training and achieve a specific level of points in a system of various educational parameters, such as writing scientific papers, teaching at scientific programs and serving in leadership positions.”
Upon learning he was being named an inaugural Fellow, Dr. Arocha stated: “I have devoted my career to helping individuals who are experiencing hair loss and am proud to be among the first class of Fellows of ISHRS. This is a tremendous honor and I believe it is helpful for the patient community as it can help to distinguish those who truly are leaders in hair restoration.”
Dr. Bernstein states that he is “honored to be designated an inaugural Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (FISHRS). He and 60 colleagues make up the first class of fellows to the ISHRS.” Dr. Bernstein further explains that he has had a long association with the ISHRS, as he has “been a member since 1994, has attended 17 of the organization’s annual meetings, has participated on several medical committees, and has authored numerous articles and research papers in the ISHRS’s principle publication, the journal Hair Transplant Forum International.”
Like Dr. Bernstein, Dr. Carman is “honored” to be among those selected as well, and also explained his long history with the ISHRS. He has “served as a member since 2003, consecutively attended the organization’s annual meetings over the last ten years, has been a member of the ISHRS Faculty – responsible for training and guiding new surgeons entering the field – and currently serves on the Editorial Board of the ISHRS’s principle journal publication, the Hair Transplant Forum International.”
Each Fellow was approved by the ISHRS Board of Governors. According to this group, “the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) is a non-profit medical association with a membership of over 1,200 physicians worldwide dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of hair restoration. The mission of the ISHRS is to achieve excellence in patient outcomes by promoting member education, international collegiality, research, ethics, and public awareness.”
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Arocha, Dr. Bernstein, and Dr. Carman on the FISHRS designation!
