Dr. Koray Erdogan of Istanbul Now Offers Long Hair Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

Recommended hair transplant surgeon Dr. Koray Erdogan of Istanbul, Turkey is world renown for his advanced follicular unit extraction (FUE). In addition to standard FUE, Dr. Erdogan recently announced the he now offers a relatively new procedure known as “Long Hair Follicular Unit Extraction” or Long Hair FUE. As the name implies, the procedure is similar to FUE with the added benefit of no shaving required in either the donor or recipient areas. This enables patients to appear normal looking immediately after surgery, just with more hair.

Always the innovator, Dr. Erdogan has patented special punches that he uses to perform the extractions. The incisions are created by Saphire Blades in order to prevent damage to the original hair roots and the placement of the follicular unit grafts is performed using the KEEP (Koray Erdogan Embedding Placer) system.  This device is also patented by Dr. Erdogan.

Due to the intricacy of this procedure, Long Hair FUE sessions are limited to approximately 1000 grafts per day, up to a maximum of 3000 grafts in 3 consecutive days.

The allure of this procedure is that patients look practically normal immediately after hair transplant surgery.  However, like typical follicular unit extraction and strip hair transplant surgery, the implanted hairs typically shed between 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure.  In 3 to 5 months, the hair will begin to regrow and will take up to a year or 18 months to fully mature.
