Unlike follicular unit transplantation (FUT) commonly known as “strip surgery”, which can be performed without shaving the entire donor area allowing for immediate concealment of the sutured wound, FUE has traditionally required patients to shave a large portion of the back of the head. This may result in an awkward and conspicuous appearance until the shaved hair grows back. With the New Hair Institute’s newly developed procedure, this is no longer a concern.
The New Hair Institute’s new procedure, known as mini-FUE (mFUE), utilizes a specialized instrument they created for all of their FUE procedures and have been using successfully for quite some time. However, due to the intricacy of the extraction process, it is currently limited to a maximum session size of only 300 grafts which takes approximately one hour to complete.
