What treatments are available for female hair loss?
I have just noticed thinning of my hair. What treatments are available for female hair loss?
Women can experience hair loss due to changes in their hormones associated with pregnancy or metapause. For woman with hair loss due to hormonal changes/issues the underlying changes and stresses need to be addressed by a physician.
Some woman experience hair loss similar to the classic male pattern baldness that men have. For woman with such hair loss Rogaine for women is perhaps one of the most effective treatments. Propecia is prescribed only for men and should not be used by women. Some women are good candidates for surgical hair restoration. But only if their thinning/balding is in concentrated areas. Women with diffuse thinning throughout the scalp are not good candidates for hair transplantation.
I suggest you do a free hair loss consult with one of the physcians recommeded on the Hair Transplant Network to determine why you are experiencing hair loss and what can be done for you.
Best wishes for restoring and keeping your hair.
