Female Hair Loss: Important Warnings for Women Considering Hair Transplant Surgery

Before any woman with [tag]female hair loss[/tag] proceeds with [tag]hair surgery[/tag], she should properly be evaluated for medical and other conditions that can mimic [tag]female pattern baldness[/tag]. Be sure not to ignore this as I have seen many women have surgery only to find out later there was a medical reason for their [tag]hair loss[/tag].

I generally do not initially recommend a [tag]hair transplant[/tag] for women unless they have had a proper medical workup. I found too many cases of underactive thyroid, low ferritin / iron and causes of [tag]telogen effluvium[/tag] or [tag]shock loss[/tag] due to other factors mimicking [tag]androgenic alopecia[/tag]. I have also found two cases of diffuse [tag]alopecia areata[/tag], an immunological condition where the [tag]hair transplants[/tag] would not work.
