Hello Dr. Konior.   I live in Illinois downstate and came across your name because of proximity. After looking at your hair transplant photos and patient comments, I am strongly considering you to do my hair transplant. I have a couple questions for you before I move forward, though.

1) From my hair transplant photos, how many grafts would you suggest?
2) How much do you charge per follicular unit graft?

This hair loss question was posted directly to Dr. Raymond Konior  of Chicago, IL,  who is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians.   See his professional answer below.

The number of follicular units needed will depend on your hair density, expectations and the exact size of the balding area you want grafted.   The area, of course, will depend on the precise location of your new hairline.   I would estimate that a minimum of 3000 grafts would be needed to achieve a reasonable frontal hairline, however, that number could be larger if you desire a slightly lower hairline or if you desire grafting in the area of hair loss  in the crown region.   I generally prefer that most young men focus on the front and midscalp since that is such a cosmetically important area.   The crown is very unpredictable in young men with respect to how far the balding will advance.   I may be able to give you a much more accurate recommendation if you forward a photo with your preferred hairline drawn in.   Please include more information about your hair density expectations, your goals for the crown and your willingness to shave your scalp in the event you undergo a hair transplant megasession with dense packing.   Also, please let me know if you are on Propecia (finasteride).   My office manager, Tom, handles fee related information.   You can call him during business hours at 630-932-9690 for fee related information.   The fee schedule varies depending on graft number, i.e. the per graft fee decreases with larger sessions.   Feel free to write my direct email at drkonior@sbcglobal.net if you want.   Thanks for your inquiry.   I look forward to your supplemental information and photos.
