Hair Loss Myth: Vigorous Towel Drying Causes Hair Loss
Despite what you may have heard, vigorous towel drying of the hair does not cause irreversible hair loss.
Though it is possible that you may lose hair when vigorously drying your hair, the hair that falls out during this process will either grow back or was going to fall out anyway due to hereditary hair loss.
The hair that falls out during the towel drying process could be for a few reasons:
- Some of the hairs may be damaged (dry or brittle). These hairs may break as a result. Rest assured the hair follicle is still in tact.
- The hairs could be shedding due to the normal hair growth cycle. Feel free to join our discussion about it here.
- Miniaturized hairs that were going to fall out anyway due to hereditary hair loss may shed or fall out.
