As of today, I am 25 days out from a hair transplant.and I have a concern. After getting out of the shower this morning, there were a couple of areas that were really red. Upon gently touching the area with a Q-tip, and there was a fluid mix on the tip. It wasn’t a bright, blood red, but it still concerned me. Does this mean that I lost a hair graft? My hair restoration physician has told me that at this point there is no way that I could have lost a graft. I just wanted to check and see if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks so much for any help!
Thank you for your inquiry,
I agree with your hair restoration doctor that it would be very unlikely to lose a follicular unit graft 25 days out from hair transplantation surgery.
However extreme redness and/or fluid might indicate a possible infection in the area which is a rare but possible risk in hair transplantation. Therefore, I recommend consulting with your hair transplant doctor to have him evaluate the area of concern. In the meantime, do your best to keep the area clean. You might want to avoid using any hair products or hair loss treatments such as Rogaine with Minoxodil because it might further irritate the area.
