How Long after a Hair Transplant Will New Hairs Continue to Sprout?
This question, from a member of our hair loss social community and discussion forums, was answered by “Spex”:
In your opinion, do new hairs sprout even as late as 9-12 months after hair restoration surgery? Should I wait a full 12 or 18 months before considering a second hair transplant?
Regarding growth times, everyone is different and hair can cycle at different timelines so it would be safe to say new hair growth can be establishing itself at 9+ months.
Regarding a second HT, it’s advisable to leave a minimum of 12 months between sessions. If working in a new area altogether i.e. first session in the front and second in the crown then you could potentially do the second session after 9+ months in my opinion to allow the region to fully recover. However, it’s always a good to leave it 12+ months for second session as then, with session 2, you can tweak session 1 if required.
