How To Relieve Pain and Itching after Hair Transplant Surgery
This question, from a member of our hair loss social community and discussion forums, was answered by Coalition hair transplant surgeon Dr. Carlos Wesley:
I recently underwent a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant. I am 6 days post-op and I feel a burning and pinching sensation in my scalp donor area. It’s nothing that I cannot bear but, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this pain as 6-7. Is this normal?
One simple and effective method for relief of this short-term discomfort after hair restoration surgery is applying a hot towel soaked in Epsom salt water to the back of your head. This can be repeated 3-4 times for a few minutes each time.
This can help soothe any discomfort, which will resolve in time.
