The following response to a question from our Hair Loss Forum and Social Community was written by forum member “Gillenator”:

I need a hair transplant with around 5,000 grafts. Will I have any scars after the hair transplant just in a case I want to shave my head in the future?

When follicular unit extraction (FUE) really began to proliferate in North America, there were some hair restoration clinics calling it “scarless FUE”, yet anytime that tissue is cut (excisions) or removed (extractions), scar tissue is going to form to repair those wounds and anyone stating otherwise is straight out lying, period.

Although a linear scar from strip harvesting can be more obvious to the naked eye, the spotted scarring from FUE is just another type of scarring that forms. But, make no mistake about it, it does form.
