This question comes from a member of our Hair Loss Social Community and Discussion Forums:
Ten days ago, I underwent a hair transplant procedure and I’m beginning to return to my daily routine. Recently, I took a shower and noticed small hairs that seemed to fall out (“shed”) while bathing. Is this normal? Am I losing my newly transplanted follicular unit grafts?
In fact, most hair loss experts agree that by day 7 the grafts are fully “anchored” and dislodging is no longer an issue. Additionally, others claim that a lack of “blood” indicates that you haven’t actually lost or dislodged any grafts. This means that by day 10, showering should not displace or remove any grafts. Regardless, if you are uncomfortable, I definitely recommend contacting your hair transplant clinic.
