I am suffering from hair loss in the front of my scalp. Shall I use the hair loss drug 5% minoxidil to treat frontal baldness. My uncle (i.e., my mother’s younger brother) has a bald head. I have been informed that if my uncle is suffering this problem, I would also face baldness, is this correct?
Just because your uncle is losing his hair, doesn’t mean you definitely will. But if your hair is thinning in the front, you may be suffering from typical male pattern baldness. Family history of hair loss can be used as a guide to determine how much hair you will lose, but isn’t a guarantee.
In my opinion, oral finasteride (found in Propecia and Proscar) and topical minoxidil (the active ingredient in Rogaine) are the two greatest non-surgical hair loss treatment options that may help reverse the thinning process. I encourage you to speak to a physician about finasteride in particular and consider whether these hair loss drugs may be an option for you.
