Each month we will be highlighting one excellent hair restoration physician recommended by the Hair Transplant Network. This month, we are proud to present Coalition member, Dr. Richard Keller of Deerfield, Illinois.

Professional and Educational Experience

Dr. Richard Keller completed his General Surgery training at University of Illinois and has been a practicing physician for over 20 years. Dr. Keller is an esteemed member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) and a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).

Dr. Keller often presents hair restoration innovations and techniques he’s acquired at each year’s ISHRS Scientific Meeting.  Recently discussed concepts include the identification of the apex and temporal points, which allow surgeons to produce consistent framework in hairline design and notions of hair transplantation as a stem cell transfer process in wound healing of skin grafts.  This latter idea is being further studied to help with wound healing.

Hair Transplant Surgical Technique and Philosophy

Dr. Richard Keller performs large densely packed sessions of ultra-refined follicular unit hair transplantation and uses all the latest techniques and tools to ensure optimal and natural looking results.

Dr. Richard Keller specializes in follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) and recently started offering advanced follicular unit extraction (FUE) at his clinic.  He offers both manual and motorized FUE of up to 1500 grafts in a single session when appropriate for the patient.  His manual tool of choice is the Versi Handle with 0.6, 0.8 & 1.0 punches. He utilizes the Powered SAFE Scribe for motorized FUE.

Dr. Keller promotes the concept of one patient focus per day to provide the one on one care that his patients deserve.  He personally conducts all of his own consultations and is involved in the hair restoration process from start to finish.

Personal

Dr. Keller lives in the suburbs with his wife and two dogs. He also has two grown children in graduate school that he calls his “favorite hobby”. They enjoy traveling together.

His hobbies include racquetball, karate & jogging and he enjoys hitting the gym as often as possible.
