I have always had excellent thick long black hair. But of late, and all of a sudden, I feel like my hair is falling out. I run my hands through my hair to find clumps of it in my hands! There doesn’t appear to be an end to the amount of hair loss I am experiencing. Also on close examination of the hair, I can see the hair has fallen from the root and not frayed. Please advice me on what is happening? Is it reversible? Anything to worry about?
Excessive and sudden hair loss may be a sign of non-genetic balding and can be caused by a number of things. Examples include but aren’t limited to traumatic stress, a thyroid condition, an iron deficiency, malnutrition, low ferratin levels, certain medication including anticoagulants, and hormonal changes in the body. I encourage you to consult with a dermatologist who can perform medical tests and a full scalp analysis to pinpoint the cause of your hair loss.
