Hair Transplant: Is it Safe to Remove Staples Earlier than Recommended?
This comment addressed by recommended hair restoration physician Dr. Ricardo Mejia of Jupiter, FL was shared by a member of our Hair Loss Social Community and Discussion Forums:
I just had my hair transplant two days ago and I am going out of the country for 6 days, so that would amount to 9 days if I decide to have it removed a day before I leave. I was wondering if there would be some or any complications if I decide to remove my sutures before the two weeks that my doctor recommended? I have to remove it because I don’t trust my traveling companions in removing the sutures themselves.
Only your hair restoration physician can advise you properly. Only he or she knows whether it is a single or double layered closure and whether there was significant tension or not during the closure. Generally speaking, some hair loss physicians remove sutures at 7 days.
We do not know whether you are on medications that affect wound healing or a smoker. Consequently, you should take your advise from your surgeon based on his or her closure technique, etc.
