The new “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter” has now been patented and released
Dr. Resul Yaman has developed and patented a new surgical instrument for Follicular Unit Excision (formerly known follicular unit extraction) called the “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter“. This new and exciting device will allow surgeons to create tiny densely packed recipient sites and implant grafts with minimal surgical trauma.
What is the “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter”?
The “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter” is a surgical instrument used to implant follicular units in to the patient’s scalp (recipient site). This device was designed to reduce the physical contact between the graft, the patient’s skin and the surgeons forceps. By reducing physical contact, the patient experiences less trauma to their scalp- Thus, increasing graft survival and reducing the patients recovery time.
How exactly does the “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter” work?
The “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter” works by gently pushing the grafts underneath the epidermis with the assistance of a slice bar. The follicular units are implanted directly under the skin without touching the surface or the surgeons forceps. This significantly reduces any possible trauma that may occur as a result of squashing or crushing the grafts in to the recipient sites.
How will this have an impact on the patient?
Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) is a surgical technique that requires the utmost care and attention. Generally, FUE grafts are weaker than Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS) grafts, because they contain less fatty tissue. Therefore, FUE grafts need to be handled with care and a minimal amount of physical contact. The “Modified FUE-Yaman Implanter” reduces the amount of contact the grafts have with the recipients skin and the surgeon’s forceps. Thus, improving the survival rate of the patients delicate grafts and boosting the overall yield of the procedure.
