What Does Hair Transplant Donor Scar Stretching Look Like?
This question, from a member of the Hair Restoration Social Community and Discussion Forums, was answered by recommended hair restoration physician Dr. William Lindsey:
I was reading some recent comments from patients who seem worried about their [tag]follicular unit transplantation[/tag] ([tag]FUT[/tag]) scar stretching. They worry that this is noticeable to people they first meet. I had [tag]hair restoration[/tag] surgery 10 years ago and the donor scar has never been my concern because my hair grows on top of it and it’s invisible. So why is this a point of obsession for some? What happens when it stretches? How does it look?
[tag]Hair transplant[/tag] donor scar stretching looks like the scar in the photo below. This is often due to a combination of high skin tension after closure and genetic potential for producing poor scars.
