I was reading some recent comments from patients who seem worried about their follicular unit transplantation (FUT) scar stretching. They worry that this is noticeable to people they first meet. I had hair restoration surgery 10 years ago and the donor scar has never been my concern because my hair grows on top of it and it’s invisible. So why is this a point of obsession for some? What happens when it stretches? How does it look?
Hair transplant donor scar stretching looks like the scar in the photo below. This is often due to a combination of high skin tension after closure and genetic potential for producing poor scars.
