Will Hair Loss Continue After Hair Replacement Surgery?

I want to get a [tag]hair transplant[/tag] but I want to know if I will experience further [tag]hair loss[/tag] after it’s complete?

I have good news and bad news.   The good news is that [tag]transplanted hair[/tag] is permanent and will not be susceptible to future [tag]baldness[/tag].    This is due to the principle of “donor dominance”, which means that hair removed keep their characteristics when transplanted.   Because hair on the sides and back of the head are resilient to [tag]DHT[/tag] (the hormone responsible for [tag]male pattern baldness[/tag]), when transplanted into [tag]balding[/tag] areas, they will remain resilient.   In my opinion, this is what makes [tag]hair restoration[/tag] surgery a worthwhile consideration.

The bad news is, [tag]hair replacement[/tag] surgery does nothing to stop the progression of  [tag]androgenic alopecia[/tag] ([tag]hereditary hair loss[/tag]).   This is why many physicians will recommend non-surgical treatments like [tag]Propecia[/tag] ([tag]finasteride[/tag]) and [tag]Rogaine[/tag] ([tag]minoxidil[/tag]) to minimize the likelihood that [tag]alopecia[/tag] will progress.
